A Ship to cross the Sea of Suffering

"Real happiness is found in the struggles we undergo to realise our goals, in our efforts to move forward." Daisaku Ikeda

Hey there, I just wanted to welcome and thank a few of my new followers it is so humbling to have eyes cast upon this blog from time to time.  I hope you find pearls of wisdom and hope from time to time.

Over the last year or so I’ve been really coming back to my true self. Unlocking the things that make me unique, and exploring the strengths I have. One of them is the ability to express myself through words. Highs and lows, and all of what is in between I find ways to share my humanity with those around me.  As a Buddhist who practices Nichiren Buddhism this humanity and ability to tackle it, is the pillar of growth for me. It is understanding that through steadfast practice and determination to explore how to become a better person I can use any obstacle to grow new wings! To find strength in the weakness.  Words become a springboard of realisation and growth, so I’d like to share a poem with you that I have been working on lately. I am hoping to perform it at World Peace Chanting in the coming months. Given I find the courage and strength to put aside my fears.

I have fallen in love with spoken word, and am trying to see if I could use this medium as a way to express the messages I yearn to share. So here goes:

A practice of promise, individual built happiness

Our faith and perseverance the real test

Digging to depths, in the hope of unlocking our best

A highest potential, not supernatural

It is in our interest to invest in taking action

Learning to understand reaction

To embrace the environment from within

Cultivating the attitude to win

against life’s triumphs and tribulations

Because life is a work in progress,

Learning to digest karmic stress,

coined human revolution

Chanting to find a solution

To a challenging situation

Is the golden key,

Through dialogue we can unlock the pillars of faith, practice and study

A deeper look of what is inside of me

Understanding what we ALL could achieve

Kosen rufu the mission of world peace

As we cross the sea of suffering

Buddhahood enables us to perceive

The true nature of reality,

fighting against innate darkness residing within you and me,

Analyzing our true victory

Manifesting causes

Determining that we will strengthen against these forces

Of defeat

For you and me are ordinary, yet extraordinary

As Boddhisattvas of the Earth

Turning obstacles into true self worth

What do you think?

Stay well, and love each other. x
