30 Days: A Letter to…Day#9

I know that it may take me some time to get through these letters, But I think taking my time to really process and compile what I want to say is more valuable than just banging out words in a flurry. I thank you for your patience if you are following my 30 Day A letter to challenge. Today’s letter is to someone I wish I could meet.

A Letter to…Someone I wish I could meet:

You are someone i’ve thought about often. I often runn through my mind wondering what would happen if I was to ever meet you. To be honest I don’t think I’d manage much conversation at all in the first few moments of being in your presence. I’d be star-struck – I’d be in awe and shock to be finally meeting you. Thanking you for your gift to this world…. YOU, just as you are. A perfect role model.

Ellen. It’s you who I’d like to meet one day.

Even as I write this, my heart skips a beat thinking about the excitement and energy of who you are as a person and all the wonderful things you do for people all over the world.

You are well aware of the influence and impact you have upon people. Your kindness, humor, generosity…everything about you oozes love and justice. I have watched you my whole life really. Grown up with Ellen Degeneres on the television and always made sure to sit through your show. Laughing the whole way. Feeling happy and sad…. to see you create change in so many wonderful peoples lives. Your show always brightening my day.

Sadness only because I feel your heart. And the flurry of emotion that surrounds people whom you touch every single day.

I recall watching you on television before you got your TV show, thinking how wonderfully brave and beautiful that you are able to stand up as a proud lesbian woman. Representing us all. Paving the way for all genders, and sexualities to hold a space in mainstream media.

Your relationship with Portia is that of a perfect example for why being same sex lovers doesn’t change who you are! It’s society who dampens our freedom and rightful equality. You are wonderful at empowering people. Well you empower me, to be OK with who I am.  My five year same sex relationship is something I’m hugely proud of. Knowing that their are other power couples and women together out there is incredibly refreshing.

So yeah. Thank you for being you. We probably will never meet… but who knows – the universe works in mysterious ways.

Take care, stay happy and keep gifting us with your laughter, soul and courage.

I fear that if we ever were to meet, I’d have given all I wanted to say to this blog post. So just in case… I’ll save the rest for then 😛

Peace
