A Ship to cross the Sea of Suffering

"Real happiness is found in the struggles we undergo to realise our goals, in our efforts to move forward." Daisaku Ikeda

Individual Potential

Daily encouragement from Sensei

“When youth are awakened to a sense of mission, their power is limitless.

Ultimately, we have to entrust our hopes and visions for the future to the youth.

This is a golden rule. Youth is pure. Youth will rise up to fulfill their ideals without calculation or self-interest.

The fundamental spirit of a leader must be to reach out to such young people,

work with them and bring out their capabilities and direct their youthful energies

in a positive direction.” — Daisaku Ikeda

Just over a week into my 100 day challenge. I am already feeling a challenge with being able to connect to a YWD member. Things will transform over time.

This message from sensei is exactly how I feel when I am working with youth. As a leader, and role model I endeavor to encourage each person’s individual potential. Harnessing what they are interested and passionate about, therefore providing a positive direction of exploration and growth.

I am a firm believer in doing what you love. Finding your passion and just running with it. Because in the end it pays off, with your general happiness. When you choose to live and take action with things that matter to you, you accumulate a zest in life! A sense of purpose, and that of truly making a difference.

If you had of told me ten years ago that I could have made a difference in the world, I would have scoffed in your face.

But now, through lived experience I know the power of a single person. It only takes one person to help you find your light. One person to see the potential within you. One person to conjure up inspiration. Just one person who truly believes in you, that can Create the opportunity of hope for those who never thought they could contribute to something bigger than themselves. Something other than surviving — Something to thrive for!

I have learnt to just do my best to embrace myself. By doing my best to live true to myself, I can encourage others to do the same. I can encourage youth and others to live how they want, without fear and doubt. Committed to their human revolution and growth.

Well I do my best. And heck, I am by no means perfect… far from it actually…

But i live true to me. Building my confidence every day, building my gratitude for life itself.

Hoping that all of those I encounter who struggle with life feel, filled with joy and happiness one day,

through their own strengths and choices. xx
